Though we don’t celebrate Christmas here at Beit Tikvah, many, if not the majority, of our members have some sort of family Christmas tradition. Even Israelis are curious about חג המולד. O Come, O Come Emmanuel was originally written in Latin in the 12th Century and translated into English in 1861. It was inspired by the Jewish prophet Isaiah… 7:14: “Therefore the LORD Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel [God with us].” It’s a story of salvation and deliverance.
