The lighting of the traditional Chanukah menorah, with eight candles for eight nights, is a reflection of the eight-day biblical celebration of Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles. We say, “A great miracle happened there.” What was the miracle? A rag-tag army of inexperienced merchants and farmers defeated the most powerful army in the known world, outnumbered 20 to 1, in just three years. They preserved the Bible and re-established the Temple and Jerusalem as the center of faith, the place where Yeshua would preach and teach. That’s something to celebrate.
