The purposes of suffering in the story of Joseph - Genesis 45:1-8

Joseph had a choice to welcome his brothers when they came to Egypt, or to punish them for what they had done to him. He chose forgiveness. He believed God had sent him ahead to save his family and others. What greater part does Judah play in the story? How did his change of heart change his destiny? This speaks of our corporate destiny: Our suffering serves a greater purpose because we can learn to comfort others through the suffering we encounter.
