Unmet expectations steal our happiness and contentment and make it difficult to be thankful. One of the greatest evidences of human fallenness and finiteness is how quickly we expect the wrong things, or the right things at the wrong time. Unmet expectations come when we put too much hope or pressure on ourselves or others to perform in order to meet our needs. Expectations are normal, but we need discernment to know if they are realistic or unrealistic. The answers are found through wise counsel, or through the gift of discernment by the Holy Spirit.
