Scripture is from Leviticus 24:13-16. Capital punishment for something that is merely spoken seems radically extreme. This makes no sense in our culture where we supposedly enjoy freedom of speech and the freedom to think and do as we please. But in this portion of Leviticus we are reminded that words matter because they are part of our inheritance as men and women made in the image of God... a God who literally spoke the universe into existence! Because we are made in His image our words have the power of life and death, blessing and cursing, and according to Yeshua our careless words can literally condemn us. This passage is a reminder to carefully guard what we say. Words have meaning, and Adonai is listening!
