What We Believe

"Love ADONAI your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength."

Core Beliefs

The following are Beit Tikvah's core beliefs, based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible (Old and New Testaments/Tanakh and B'rit Hadashah). All our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

We believe in One God as declared in the Shema (Deut. 6:4-9), who is Echad (a compound unity) and eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Yeshua (Jesus)

We believe in Messiah Yeshua's Deity, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning death, His bodily resurrection and His ascension to the right hand of God the Father. We await His personal, bodily return in power and glory. Yeshua and the Father are one, and in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form.

Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit)

We believe in the sanctifying power and present ministry of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), who indwells all believers upon confession of Messiah, enabling us to live godly lives and empowering us for the exercise of spiritual gifts.

Man

We believe that man, through his sin, is separated from God.
Only by repentance and  faith in Yeshua's sacrificial death can we be cleansed and reconciled to God. Salvation is by grace through faith plus nothing.

Sin

We believe sin to be that which participates in, enables, affirms, and/or glorifies behavior that is contrary to God’s instructions for life as described in the Bible. The Hebrew word for sin, khata, means "to miss the mark." Sin separates man from his original intended relationship with God.

Repentance

We believe that man, through his sin, is separated from God. Yeshua's sacrificial death singularly made it possible for us to be reconciled to God through repentance—that is, turning away from sin to align ourselves with God and His ways, ultimately facilitating the heart change necessary for a genuine, restored relationship with Him.

The Word

We believe the Bible—as given to the writers in its original languages, consisting of the Tanakh (Hebrew Scriptures) and the B'rit Hadasha (Greek Scriptures)—is the inspired, infallible, inerrant and authoritative Word of God.  The Bible is an absolutely reliable, dependable and trustworthy guide for our faith and in practice.

Eternal Covenant

We believe in God's eternal covenant made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We therefore stand with and support the Jewish people and the State of Israel and hold fast to the biblical heritage of our forefathers.

Resurrection

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: the one to everlasting life, the other to everlasting judgment and condemnation.

Sexuality

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as distinctly male or female, which together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27).
God's design for marriage is the single, exclusive union of one man and one woman and is the vehicle by which sexual intimacy is kept sacred (Genesis 2:18-25).

Any form of sexual immorality or perversion, including adultery, polyamory, fornication, homosexual behavior, incest, use of pornography, and self-identifying outside of God's created sexual distinction is a sin against God. Repentance of these actions is required to restore one's relationship with God.
