[Numbers 20:7-11] Moses seemingly received a severe punishment for a relatively minor disobedience. Did the punishment fit the crime? Was God being overly harsh? A closer look reveals that it wasn't the fact that Moses struck the rock twice, but the fact that he took it all personally and left Adonai totally out of the process. Therefore, we are ultimately left with the question, "Is Adonai slow to speak because He knows we won't obey Him precisely?" By remaining silent, is He keeping us from presumptuous sin?
